Hi guys
wondered if anyone is interested in doing a bike ride and run on Sunday 21st November?
The ride and run are aimed at base winter training, with the focus on keeping a group together throughout.
The start point will be my house in Gnosall, (ample street parking at end of our street and toilets! at the house that is!)
The bike ride is approx 45mls, 99% quiet B roads, takes approx 3hrs averaging 15miles an hr, it really is a stunning winter ride. Expect the roads to be a little muddy and some pot holes in places, but generally in good condition. The route is steady with a few steadyish! - climbs.
You will pass through places like: Wheaton Aston, Lilleshall, Tibberton, Great Bolas, Childs Ercal, Woodseaves etc.
I have put a link in to Google maps to show the sort of roads.
The run is around Gnosall, taking in the canal, old railway and some quiet roads, approx 5 miles. Expect it to be muddy, wet in places. I reckon the run is wonderful too!
We will be putting on hot drinks and food (tea, coffee, bananas, flap jack, biscuits etc) at a wonderful friends house in Childs Ercal, approx 2hrs into ride. (plenty of space for some crazy triathletes)you will also be able to refill water bottle if needed, and use the loo.
On the run there will be a drinks station (water cups only) at some point on the canal.
I am asking any folks who would like to come along to donate £5 to Gnosall First Responders (volunteer paramedics)
The whole morning is geared towards enjoying a reasonably paced training session, with a chance to try out nutrition etc. On the bike and run it would operate as the normal club training rides do, whereas the group stays together and all road decisions are made by the individual rider.
I am hoping to attract all abilities so that to some it will be a challenge and to others a day out made more challenging by clever use of gears! carrying the kids on the handlebars etc!
REMEMBER YOU DONT HAVE TO DO THE RUN, YOU CAN JUST DO THE BIKE RIDE.
So the basic outline is:
Sunday 21st Nov
8am start - from Gnosall
bike ride approx 3hrs
run approx 5 miles - on and off road
some food and drinks supplied
Cost £5 - to a great cause!
Just something different towards your winter training schedule!
If anyone is interested please post on the forum or contact me on mobile: 07779742660

Hi guys
After talking to the missus (she who knows everything!)
It seems i have made a BIG mistake! She reckons I should have said ANY donations welcome, rather than asking for £5.
Which makes sense, cause some run races cost a fiver!
If you would like to come along for a wonderful Autumn ride, please do and any donations to the Responders, most welcome.
To make it even more attractive to you guys we will be offering free massage, holiday in Florida, new bike of your choice, oh and a slot in Kona!!!
Ok, I made that last bit up!
So come on get outta bed this Sunday and join me and The Don for pedal pushing, leg turning enjoyment!
