Volunteers for the Stafford Half

Stafford Tri have again been asked by the Council to help support this great event, so we need the following:

Cyclists for the lead runners. Depending on speed of runners maybe one for the main pack and one for the lead runner

2 x Cyclists, assisting along the railway path.

This is something we always help out with, the club gets plenty of local publicity from it, so your help very much appreciated.

Stafford Tri kit to be work please.

Please reply here if you can help out, or smithy@staffordtri.com

Cheers
Stu

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

Come on guys - the club has supported this event for a few years now. I know there are a few of us racing and the Che****e cat is on, but that still leaves plenty of club members.

We're looking for a couple of people to wander up and down the old railway line just making sure the runners are OK, and faster riders who can lead out the runners for the race.

Its only a couple of hours, please support the club in this...

Stu

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

I may be dropping out of the half. If I do I will ride my bike to support the club.

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

By the way, just in case anyone hadn't realised, you don't have to be that fast on a bike, as it is a running race. So (if my calculations are correct) even if they are banging out 5 min/mile, that only equates to 12mph

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

Agree Withy - I did lead bike last year as I was injured - was really enjoyable and i know the front guys thanked us for our support and motivation. Really was a great day, not exerting at all - nice pootle in the sun with all the crowd cheering you on (ok - its not really you) but hey- it feels goooooood :)

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

Sorry Stu, reason I haven't volunteered or taking part in the race itself is due to working 7-7 on Sunday.
Come on people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

Stu I am available but only have my road bike, if anyone can lend me a MTB or something suitable then I could help out. What time do we need to be there?

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

Shepp, you can use my mountain bike if you need it

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

Hi Shepp

Race starts at 10am so sometime before that. Depending on how many volunteers we have (hint people!) we just need to sort out who does the railway line and who does the lead out.

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

Morning,

We have three volunteers, thanks guys. I am getting info today on
from the organisers, will be in touch with you

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

As a club we really need for members to offer their services in helping Marshall events. Andrea and I have always enjoyed giving a little bit of time to assist local events. It's great to see races from the other side.
It's also great promotion for the club too, so whenever you have the time spare please give it a go, you'll love it.

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

Hi,

I was down to do this event myself - but a thigh injury this week has unfortunately put paid to that.

The injury doesn't affect my cycling however, so if there is still a need for another volunteer then I'll put my name into the hat.

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

Cheers Bri can I get it from you on Saturday after club ride?

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

Hi Shepp- i did it on road bike last year - no probs

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

Hi Girls/Guys
Over the past few years of supporting the club for the Stafford Half Marathon, we generally meet up in the town centre an hour or so earlier, so that we can check with the orangisers that the route has'nt changed since last time.
We then cycle around the route to check if every thing is OK and get to know route better etc. Those support cyclist, (or any others) who want to come along before hand are most welcome. It's looks that were in for a great week-end weather wise and we all have a good morning out. Do wear the clubs kit to advertise us.
P.S. Don't forget the clocks spring forward by an hour into 'Summer Time' on the morning - The Don

Re: Volunteers for the Stafford Half

The Don / Shepp

Can you guys do the job up and down the old rail line please. Basically checking that all runners are OK. You will get phone numbers for St John's ambulance in the morning and the race organise.

Organisers have this down from 10:00 - 12:30 if thats OK.

Bally and Keith are going to do the lead out for the runners.

As The Don says, 9am meet means that you're nice and organised and can get a ride in first, and club kit please.

Thanks for helping the Club out, appreciate it

Any probs give me a bell, 07828181083
