Traffic exchange works by opening a second browser window showing a random site from the traffic exchange scheme.

As a technique it is very 20th century, it is a form of spam and a lot of people probably mistake it for a virus.

And the real reason probably is ......
Bravenet's advertisers don't like being associated with crap like that and they pay the bills.
