My father died when I was nine months old, which would be April, 1948. My mother told me he served on the Quincy in World War II and later was transfered to the USS Dayton. He joined the Navy in 1943, so he couldn't have been on the USS quincy lost at Iron Bottom Sound. I am wondering if anybody who sees this message board may have known him, or could tell me where I might find records pertaining to his tour of duty.
