My father served on the Quincy on the re-commissioning crew back in 1951. Although he served on 15 ships in his 20 year career (retired as a BTC) the Quincy always held a special place for him. He passed on April 27, 2008 after a four month battle with asbestos related lung cancer. But his stories of the sea and world travels moved me to follow in his footsteps in the U.S.N.
