My great great grandmother was named Sarah Coston.
She was born in Indiana. She married Levi Motsinger, who died of measles in Memphis during the civil war. She and Levi moved to Misoouri and she was Levi's second wife.
Family oral history says she was Seminole Indian. are at least half Seminole
She looked Indian, as did her daughter-- my great grandmother--- except for blue eyes. Are there any records about Coston name in Seminole History? Or have you any information about a female of the Seminole tribe marying a man named Coston and settling in Indiana.
I realize that many tribes had people who memorized ancestors and passed down to their descendants.
Sarah has been my brickwall for about 50 years. I finally located her grave in the same cemetery as her daughter and son-in law but she was burried under her second husbands name. Also her mother married a second time to a man named Humphrey and she is also buried in that cemetery. It is Tune Cemetery in Dent County, Missouri
