I am the 3rd great grandson of Dr. John F Brown. I am looking for information and lineage prior to his movement with the Seminole Indians abt. 1837. He was appointed Surgeon by US Disbursing Agent at Fort Brooke, Florida in 1837.

It has been my understanding that he was educated at the University of Edinberg, however a 1900 US Census of his son Gov. John F Brown, shows that his father was from North Carolina. I believe he was born in Scotland.

I do not have his birth or death dates. Only that he died from overworking a cholera epedemic in Wanette, OK.

I have read that he had 4 sons (only know of John Jr., Andrew Jackson and Robert G) and 7 daughters ( only know of Alice and Lucy)

Any information that help me find out more about Dr. John F Brown is greatly appreciated.
