Just had to share with you all that I have just finished watching the second series.....what a sad ending!
When I watched the first series I felt so sorry for Daniel Fogerty and angry with Elizabeth, James, Frazer and Callon for how they used poor Daniel for their own gains.
In the second series Daniel changed so much, cunning scheming, underhand dealings, it was wonderful!
Daniel developed such a dark side to him (with that lovely sensitivity breaking through occasionally) I found myself starting to side with James, although he had a few tricks up his sleeve too!
I even begged James to stop bidding for the ship, leave Daniel to pay the true value for it and be happy to take away a third of the price as salvage! Alas, he didn't listen
I'm off now to start watching the third series...I'm so lucky!

Re: The Onedin Line
Hi Ce Ce,
I am glad to know you love The Onedin Line. It is defintely a firm favourite for me of Mike's work..Just a little thing, you will notice in series 3 that the characters change quite alot, they almost mature, especially Jessica Benton "Elizabeth Frazer", and the story really gets quite juicy as far as Daniel and Elizabeth, but i won't spoil it for you...and I have to admit that the death of Anne Onedin really saddened me too.
There is a great story line with James and two new women as well, so series 3 is definitely a good one, and of course Mike's favourite episode "ice and fire" that's a great episode. The captures I did for Onedin are from that episode..
Happy viewing,
Carie

Re: The Onedin Line
Oh! Poor Daniel
Shipwreck....Malaria....Rejection....No Business Acumen, not surprising always trying to get the better of James!
Then the smile, the mischief in teasing Elizabeth and Leonora, the hero, well, he was prepared to rescue James from the ice!
The more I see, the more I think what a wonderful contradiction he is. So honourable, but devious, so earthy, yet, sensitive and gentle.
Ice and Fire seen, I am testing my willpower, the rest of season three is calling.

Re: The Onedin Line
Hi everyone,
I've been wondering for a while now about the locations used for The Onedin Line.
In some scenes the surroundings look very familiar.
Does anyone know if Charlestown in Cornwall was used for any of the exterior locations?

Re: The Onedin Line
Hi there CeCe,
Yep.. you are quite right Charlestown was one of the locations used for Onedin Line. Do you know Charlestown? It's still a lovely place! Ive put a few links in for a bit more info but you'll need to scroll down a bit on some to get the Onedin Line bits.
I'll email you a bigger list of links I think you'll like them.
Love the web site by the way. I found it looking for Onedin line sites about 6 months back.

Re: The Onedin Line
Thank you so much Claire,
I could only find Dartmouth as a location when I searched the web, but didn't think to search for 'locations' . Your list is wonderful!
Yes, I know Charlestown very well, I spent many an hour watching the ships come in at sunset.
I don't think Charlestown has changed much since being built, let alone in the last thirty years, probably why I recognized it.
I should have some photo's somewhere, might even be one with me in Andre, now that would be a shock!
Thanks again Claire,

Re: The Onedin Line
Just an afterthought,
If anyone would like the list of links Claire kindly provided (locations used for The Onedin Line across the UK) let me know
Sorry so late to reply to this, but I made a visit to Dartmouth and Exeter in 2003, i have some photos if anyone would be interested to see them now, perhaps I can upload some of them, in fact I don't think things have changed that much since they filmed Onedin..
