That's insane. Man, I wish I could have seen that! I'm guessing there were a ton of sharks but possibly some of the best kept big waves in the world during Winter. I've also been thinking that there might have been waves in the summer during the August to October when the hurricanes break off Mexico and travel due West... pointed right at JI. From the satellite pictures, there seems to be an outer reef at the Northern tip of the atoll (not one of the 4 islands). Is there a name for that reef? Was there ever any concern about swimming in the water with the chemicals stored on JI?
Thanks SO much for your recollections. Anyone have pictures of the waves / outer reefs?
