Hello,
I am doing research on my husband's time in the U. S. Air Force. We were not married at the time he was in service & he died in June, 2008. His name is Ronnie Gardner. He was stationed at Charleston Air Force Base, Charleston, S. C. for 4 years. He was with the 1608th Supply Sq. In going through his orders, I have run across one that says he was reassigned to the 6488 Air Base Sq., Johnston Island & was to report there in Aug. 1963. He told me he never left the states & in talking with his family, they say as far as they can recall he never left the states. He did tell me he went to Florida for the Cuban Missle Crisis but never mentioned Johnston Island.
