Check your shoes!
Small idiotic confession coming up. I wanted to take a valve adaptor to the Chase Race to ensure I could inflate my tyres, but also those of my team-mates and associates (Spider Legs et al.). I didn't want to forget it, so put it into my running shoe the night before. Didn't need the adaptor on arrival, so shoes went directly to transition zone. I am pretty slow in transition, so decided not to put socks on as before. Had an ok bike and felt ready to give the run a go. However, after a few strides I could feel a sharp pain in the bottom of my left foot. My shoe had been pulled off in that boggy section first time through, so I thought there was a bit of mud in there and not to be so soft. Carried on with the run, especially as I could see a few friendly faces ahead of me and managed to finish. Got to the van and pulled my shoe off followed by a metalic jingle as the 3 inch long valve adaptor fell out of my shoe and hit the floor! What a jobby! Enjoyed the event though and well done to everyone involved. |

Sounds like a poor excuse for being outrun by the man with 4 arms Well Done for enduring the pain. |

I recall Chucky (the wife) running a race with half a dozen safety pins in her shoes some of them open. Mind you not quite as fast as you so had to endure the pain for longer
