Ola + Band rock the Albans!
It was 7-ish years ago Ola and his band first blew my mind at a concert in Blackheath and I guess I have probably seen him perform 20+ times since then...although not for at least a year... So I was really excited to catch up with the UK's best soul vocalist (you can argue all you like but that is a truism) again in St Albans on Staurday night. What can I say...just like on that night in Blackheath the music was like nothing else I’ve heard soul-wise and reminded me of what I had been missing for the last year or so. Ola's voice truly is like no other, he has supreme vocal control, perfect intonation and more soul than you could shake a rather large tree at! I also think his current band and the 'band sound' is as good as I have ever heard, a nice tight organic sound which supports Ola's incredible vocals (which really does not need any ornaments) as well as some great controlled solo playing to boot. An excellent night...thank you. |
