I'm learning Reiki and am interested in healing through your eyes. Does any one have any knowledge on this.

Hello,

May I please ask the reason you're asking about this before I answer? This is normally a Reiki II or Okuden subject, but certainly in Reiki I or Shoden you may also use it. I'd also be curious if you've collected any other information on it thus far, perhaps from you Reiki teacher or elsewhere.

Thanks for helping me here, the reason I want to know is I am undertaking my Reiki 1 and following an empowerment my Reiki teacher felt I would heal with my eyes rather than my hands and suggested I research it further. I dont have any other information at the moment as you are my 1st line of enquiry.

Healing with the eyes
Gyoshi: gaze
Ho: method

Normally taught in Okuden or Reiki II. Interesting that it's been suggested you mainly use your eyes as Reiki flows most powerfully from the hands first. Of course it flows from other places too, but only if done with understanding. This concept of understanding is deep and wide and involves both the spiritual and energetic practices that Usui Sensei did actually teach. His teaching was about spiritual growth, healing being a result of that. It's by developing yourself spiritually and practicing a regimen of energetic integrity that "undertstanding" comes along. In this sense it's wisdom or enlightenment blended with love.

Healing with the eyes can be used if you're unable to touch in certain areas, for various reasons, but you could also just Reiki the aura over those areas and probably to greater effect.

So why heal with the eyes? First it's for the practitioner to drop expectation, judgment, angry or harsh staring, looking in any nonloving way. Once that inner change happens, Gyoshi-ho can become part of your life and practice. Most useful in public where we meet strangers all the time who need healing or to make a change. Also can be used when speaking to clients prior to a session. It's the look of compassion that first is in the heart. The heart must become truly compassionate.
