Apology Prayer/Asian Tsunami
Oh, spirit of the Earth, you've answered our error-ways with an epic tsunami. Your "Ring of Fire" has spoken authoritatively. Tectonic plates could no longer hold their silence. You've responded with seismic violence to our violence, but yours has a higher purpose. We keep separating each other, while your fury will ultimately bring us closer. We pray that your core message really gets to the hearts and minds of all people. May we cleanse even the smallest amount of anger or rage, resentment or avarice from our thought energies, and live harmonious lives. May leaders, decision-makers, corporate and military brass have a vision for peace mentally, and the light of peace heartfully. You are obviously unhappy and hurting. So are we, but we keep trying to make it go away aggressively, destructively, darkly. Dear spirit of the Earth, we apologize. We promise to evolve, to match our enlightenment to at least the power of our destructive tendencies and inventions. We promise to find high-minded, soulful solutions. They call it a "fault line," but it isn't any fault of yours. The fault line of thinking is ours alone. Let us heed your highligting of it. Let us be humbled by your force of Nature and crack our hearts open. For there lies the peaceful way to nonviolence, nonprofiteering, no eco-rape, no power "over" people and resources, no "might is right." Forgive us, dear Earth. PAMIR KICIMAN 12/28/2004 |
