Edward the Seventh Trivia.

When I was doing a bit of research for the 'Edward the Seventh' article I was perplexed by the contradictory information regarding the original screening dates

The majority of sources state 1975, but, it didn't quite seem to fit in with my memory of watching the one and only screening on UK TV! I remembered really well covering that period at school in History while 'Edward the Seventh' was screening and I, and many of my fellow class mates, felt like we were watching our History subject played out live before our very eyes! However, I didn't remember being as young as I would have been in 1975!

Well, this week in the TV Times (UK TV Guide) my memory has been vindicated. 'Edward the Seventh' began it's screening on UK TV on 6th March 1977.

Thanks for clearing that up TV Times!

Re: Edward the Seventh Trivia.

Hi Ce Ce,

Should have said before, but copyright on the DVD set I have is 1975. Presumably there was some delay between filming the series (in 75 ?) and its release in 77. Unfortunately, the main actors - Timothy West, Robert Hardy and Annette Crosbie - don't seem to have websites (I've checked), so difficult to get the details on the difference in dates from reliable sources. (Would be nice to know though !).

Will put it on the back burner, but not forgotten...

Best wishes,

Andy

Re: Edward the Seventh Trivia.

Hi Andy,

I've had it confirmed. The one and only UK TV screening was from Tuesday March 6th 1977.

The series took two years to put together with rehersals, filming, editing and marketing which is why the DVD's and my VHS videos state 1975 (year of conception rather than date first shown on TV) I beleive most reviewers have taken the date on the DVD/Video as the TV debut date in error! Whoops!!
