Good Work in Nursing

Members of the STTI Good Work in Nursing Community will meet at Yale as part of the International Centre for Nurisng Ethics meeting July 17-19. We will present preliminary findings from the US Pilot Phase of research addressing the usefulness of the Goodwork Toolkit in promoting socially and morally responsible work in nursing. This research program is affiliated with both STTI and the Good Work Project at Harvard University. The second phase of research will involve a wider US study and the beginning of the international phase of research. Thus far we have found that the toolkit is an excellent tool for prompting reflection on themes associated with good work, which include values, beliefs, responsibility, service to others, and accountability. This research has implications for curricular development across cultures, staff development, leadership development, and promotion of job satisfaction among nurses at all levels of professional development. Please feel free to inquire about how to become part of the STTI Good Work in Nursing Community as well as the research effort to learn more about good work in nursing across cultures.
