Message:   The youth team followed the senior team out of their respective FA Cup at the first stage with an emphatic 6-1 defeat at Burgess Hill Town.

Epsom & Ewell with players mussing due to injury and holidays resulting in only a 12 man squad being taken to Sussex matched the hosts for the first twenty minutes but a mistake by Stuart Price on 20 minutes allowed the ball to be given to Michael McDonald to round Ed Humphries and put the ball into the net. John Lansdale ghosted in on 24 minutes to head home a free-kick unchallenged at the front post. Stuart Hunter's hard work on 40 minutes saw a low driven cross fizz across the Burgess Hill box for Luke Longhurst to bury the ball from 12 yards out.

Epsom & Ewell at half-time were forced to bring on our only substitute Omar Lewis for Sam Braggins who had picked up a shin injury. Burgess Hill made it 3-1 on 51 minutes when Louis Pople was left to have a free run to head home a corner. Jamie Ingham was on hand to collect a cross on 57 minutes to stab the ball home from 8 yards out past Humphries. Burgess Hill's Thomas Yeates hit a 25 yards shot on 63 minutes that Epsom keeper Ed Humphries allowed to drop under the bar. Epsom & ewell were reduced to 10 men on 65 minutes with a shoulder injury, and Epsom & Ewell were further reduced to 10 men on 78 minutes when Stuart Price who had already harshly seen a yellow card in the first half was slightly late in a challenge leaving the referee no option but to show him a second yellow and the inevitable red card. The resulting free-kick 35 yards out seeing John Lansdale hit a rasping shot that left Ed Humphries motionless. Will Taylor was forced to limp off the field on 85 minutes with a leg injury seeing Epsom have to face the last five minutes plus injury time with only 8 players.
